Endurance Showdown at Whilton Mill: Freetech British Championship Rounds 5 & 6

The Freetech British Championship headed to a sun-baked Whilton Mill for a weekend of intense sprint and endurance racing. Under clear skies and sold-out grids, teams and riders across multiple classes pushed their machinery to the absolute limit.

The 2-hour endurance race on Friday saw a full grid of 40 teams take to the startline. Team AD Motors (#3) of Gary Daniels, Andy Daniels and Callum Atherton put on an immaculate display in the Moto4 category, logging 82 laps over the two hours to secure the overall victory.

They were fiercely chased down by the top Production class competitor, Racefasteners by SP Designs (#88) of Graham Eastwood, Annabelle McCarthy and recent double Junior Sportbike BSB winner, the super fast South African, Ryan van Nieuwkerk, who finished on the same lap, just 48.592 seconds behind, securing the win in the Production class.

Rebel Racing (#65), finishing just one lap down, secured second in the Production class with B&B Pharaoh (#00) of Tim Neave and George Bartle taking the final podium spot.

Notably, Town Head Garage Racing (#2) of Cid Norman, Brandon Storey and Ryan van Nieuwkerk showed excellent pace, recording the fastest lap of the entire 2-hour race with a 53.480 to take second place in the Moto 4 category and finishing 5th overall.

Third place in the Moto4 category went to the one-man team of Jacques Van Eeden putting on an impressive display of endurance by also finishing 7th overall.

The Streetstock class, once again saw Mullet Racing (#4) of Adam Harris and Tom Doodson flying the flag for Yamaha and bringing home the win. In second place was Team Normal (#89) with three Junior Talent Cup racers, Evo class winner Matthew Thomas as well as Callum Maxwell and Thomas Medd, making his first step up to the endurance class after showing impressive form in the Junior Talent Cup championship this year. Gareth Naylor, Blazing Squad (#43) also took on the one-man-team challenge himself, putting on an impressive display to finish third in the streetstock class.

The Mixed class honors belonged to Lastminute (#87), with Steph Eastwood, Craig Reilly, and Junior Talent Cup racer Isabelle Wingate teaming up to secure the win. Second place went to the standout advocates for the Mixed Class, Sloth Racing #205 of Pete Humphreys, James Dunbabin, Dan Duguid and Sarah MacDonald with their sister team The Slothettes (#317) featuring an all female racer line up after an active recruitment campaign from Sloth Racing, of Alicia Brown-King, Louisa Wronska, Essia Oliveira-Lyddall, Becky Wiseman, Mae Challis and Alexandra Pacanins Colban.

Saturday’s 8-hour marathon was an outright test of physical grit and mechanical endurance. On a sun-baked Whilton Mill circuit saw a relentless carousel of pit stops, transforming the race into a brutal trial of athlete fitness and mental stamina—all while pushing machine reliability to its absolute limit over eight continuous hours.

Once again, AD Motors (#3) proved to be unstoppable. They utterly dominated the field taking the overall and the Moto4 class win racking up an astonishing 481 laps over the 8-hour duration. Their consistency was unmatched, finishing a comfortable 10 laps clear of their nearest rivals.

Second place overall and second place in the Moto4 went to Cleds Shed Motorcycles (#37) ridden by George Cooper, John Cook and Kieran Grimes after a brilliant performance. Once again, Town Head Garage Racing (#2) proved they had the outright speed but some extra time in the pits after an unfortunate crash dropped them to 3rd on the Moto4 podium but setting the fastest lap of the entire weekend's endurance racing was 18 year old Ryan van Nieuwkerk current pilot of the Freetech BSB Junior Sportbike, recording a blistering 52.788 on Lap 134.

Third place overall and taking a dominant win in the Production class was B&B Pharaoh (#00) managed by Peter Littlewood from B&B Suzuki and ridden by current FIM World Flat Track Championship leader Tim Neave, his twin brother, former BSB Superstock Champion Tom Neave and 2025 CB500 Newcomer Champion George Bartle putting on an impressive display of what is capable on a Production Suzuki GSX-R125 against the modified Moto4 machines. B&B Pharaoh now sit a top of the Production Championship standings.

A very well deserved second place in Production displaying a meticulous pit stop strategy was Mini Scert (#12) ridden by Ben Clark, James Clark, Steve Boam and Antony Porter. Box Hill Bruisers (#27), launching their impressive new colour scheme, piloted by Matthew Pope, Kristian Muzzelle and Will Howarth took their first ever podium in their 6th year of running in the Freetech Championship with a third place in the Production class.

Team Normal (#89) flew the flag high for the Superstock class, claiming 4th overall and showcasing the Freetech Junior Talent Cup program at work of progressing young racers up through the levels and giving them unmatched seat time, race experience and guidance not available in any other championship. Making podiums a regular trip, Gen X (#9) of Chris Ashton, Mia Edmonson and Damian Davis took second place.

Third place went to Squadra Bellendi (#11) who recently made the move over to the Streetstock class, ridden superbly by Mo Pearce, Stanley Pearce and Mark Goff.

The Mixed class saw #205 Sloth Racing, go one spot better than Fridays race to secure the race win. Second place went to new for 2025 entrants, Send it & Hope Racing (#69) of John Mclaren, Libby Mclaren, Richard Green and Graeme Asquith returning to the championship after missing the Ellough Park round. Rounding out the podium was Mushman Racing (#278) making their first appearance in the Championship, ridden by Stewert Lyddall, Audrey Milner, Marcus “Billy Ray Thunder” Goose and Geoff Moeser.
